History of LAD'S AUTO

Larry Dansereau started his automotive career in Winnipeg in 1962. There, he apprenticed for 5 years before taking the final exam for Journeyman automotive technician in 1967. He worked as a licensed technician at “Sid’s Service Station” until 1971. Larry moved from Winnipeg to Calgary in 1971 to look for better opportunities. He served the Calgary community for twelve years at a Texaco service station. He had built up a huge following of customers, (many of which still frequent here today). Due to this following, he decided to start his own business.

LAD'S AUTO began serving customers in February 1985 when Larry repaired his first vehicle under the new company name. His wife Mandy, and his 2 sons Richard and David were there as his support team. Mandy did the accounting (as she does today) and his two sons organized the shop & did the odd vehicle repair or service.

Larry has been well respected in the community for many years due to several memberships with the Lions club, the Knights of Columbus, the Studebaker club, and various other charitable organizations. LAD’s Auto Repair Ltd. joined the Autopro network in 1992 and became “LAD’s Autopro”. The company grew to become a leading and well-respected repair shop in western Canada.

In 2001, LAD’s improved its service by converting from a “repair” shop to a “maintenance” shop. This means that we catch vehicle problems and perform scheduled maintenance to avoid costly customer breakdowns. Thanks to the expert training of T.A.C.T. performance groups under David Meunier, LAD’s will excel into the 21 st century looking to expand into a larger facility and/or new locations.
